ABOUT THE GAME
A garage first, a race second
Gearshift One is a browser vehicle sandbox by Roberto Mulas—less career lap times, more “does this chassis even work?” You dig into mechanics and electronics, shape how the car behaves, then roll it into a large open map to find out what you broke.
Driving is manual-minded: clutch on Shift, gears on F and V, handbrake when you need a tight turn or a dramatic stop. It is closer to a physics playground than a polished esports racer, and that is the point—tweak, crash, repair, tweak again.
CrazyGames and similar hosts ship it as a desktop-friendly Unity Web build (roughly 2024). This page embeds the TrafficRoad version. Expect a heavier load than a tiny HTML5 clicker; give it a moment, then open the map with M once you leave the garage.
HOW IT PLAYS
Build, shift, test, repeat
- 1
Deep-ish customization
Engines, chassis bits, aero, and electronic systems are fair game. Small changes show up on the road—gear ratios that pull hills, setups that spin on pavement, experiments that barely count as cars.
- 2
Open-world proving ground
Highways, dirt, and whatever weird line you invent. Place or edit obstacles when you want a homemade challenge instead of aimless cruising.
- 3
Share and swap rides
Builds can go online for other players to try. Page Up / Page Down cycles vehicles when you have more than one in the session.
SESSION FLOW
Your own checklist, not a trophy shelf
There is no campaign boss waiting at mile fifty. A good session is finishing a setup that does not stall every green light, surviving a jump you designed, or borrowing someone else’s wild machine and learning why it handles like that.
If the car flips or wedges, R repairs and Enter resets position so you stay in the loop instead of reloading the tab. Slow-mo (T) helps when you want to watch a suspension fail in high detail.
CONTROLS
Keyboard + mouse (gamepad optional)
GARAGE TIPS
Shift like you mean it
- Clutch before you bang gears — Hold Shift, change with F/V, then feed throttle. Skipping the clutch is how you invent new grinding noises.
- Test one change at a time — If you rebuild half the car between runs, you will not know what fixed the understeer. Change, drive a short loop, decide.
- Use the map before you get lost — M exists because the sandbox is big. Mark a mental landmark, or you will spend the session hunting asphalt.
- Controller fans: map the clutch — Gamepad layouts are supported on many hosts. If gears feel mushy, check that clutch and shift buttons are bound before blaming the build.
FAQ
Is Gearshift One a timed racing game?+
Not really. Some blurbs sell it like a shift-challenge racer. The core loop is building and tuning vehicles, then driving them in an open sandbox—with optional homemade tracks and shared cars.
Do I need to download anything?+
No. It runs in the browser embed on this page. It is a heavier WebGL/Unity-style load, so a desktop with a decent connection helps.
Why does the car keep stalling or refusing to move?+
Manual gears plus clutch. Drop into a sensible gear with F/V while holding Shift, ease onto the throttle, and repair with R if the last crash left something bent.
