ABOUT THE GAME

Escape a lab that is running out of power

Last Light is an HTML5 2D side-scrolling survival game from AZGames. You are trapped in an underground research facility overrun by mutated, zombie-like victims. Roughly seven hostile floors sit between the deepest basements and the surface elevator that can get you out.

Combat matters, but the grid matters more. Electricity feeds lighting, security defenses, and the escape elevator. Overload the system and alarms can dump fresh breaches into your halls until you reset basement switches. Coins from mutants and containers fund weapons, character stats, turrets, and barricades.

Runs usually open on Easy, Normal, or Hard. Daylight windows are for looting keycards and rooms; midnight turns the same corridors into siege lanes. The browser embed needs no install from this page—exact UI labels follow the hosted build.

WHAT YOU DO

Scout by day, fortify before night

  1. 1

    Explore the vertical lab

Move through side-scrolling halls, climb stairs, and ride elevators when powered. Question-mark prompts and color-coded keycards unlock new research wings.

  2. 2

    Fight with scarce ammo

Aim and shoot when packs close in, but every wasted clip hurts the next wave. Kick or cancel tools help when a mutant gets inside your guard.

  3. 3

    Split the power budget

Generate and store electricity, then choose how much goes to lights, security, and the elevator. Darkness saves battery; darkness also hides threats.

  4. 4

    Build choke-point defenses

Plant turrets and vending-style barricades on narrow corridors before midnight so the first wave dies in the hallway, not in your stash room.

  5. 5

    Spend coins with intent

Upgrade damage and survivability early; flashy extras can wait. The win condition is a powered elevator ride to the surface, not a perfect armory.

WORLD & CONTENT

Seven floors, day-night pressure, lasting mastery

The facility stacks basement switches, mid-level labs, and upper research decks. Desks hide cards that open sealed sectors; containers and defeated mutants drip the coins that keep your build alive. Difficulty choice at the start reshapes how greedy you can be during daytime looting.

Many builds carry weapon proficiency or combat mastery across attempts, so failed escapes still teach the map. Night waves escalate aggression—treat each dusk as a hard checkpoint: doors reinforced, turrets aimed, battery reserved for security and the final elevator pull.

SESSION TIPS

Last longer before the lights die

  • Loot while it is still day — Keycards and coin piles are cheapest to grab before midnight aggression spikes.
  • Watch the battery like a health bar — Leave headroom for security and the elevator. An empty grid during a breach ends runs faster than low HP.
  • Reset overloads in the basement — When alarms trip from too much draw, hit the basement switches before halls fill with new spawns.
  • Turrets on choke points — Narrow corridors multiply turret value; open rooms waste fire and coins.
  • Do not dump every coin into walls — Weapon and character upgrades often save more nights than one extra barricade.
  • Prefer desktop aiming — RMB aim plus LMB fire is clearer with a mouse than on small touch screens.

FAQ

What is Last Light?+

It is a free browser HTML5 2D survival game by AZGames set in a zombie-overrun laboratory. You explore floors, manage electricity and ammo, defend against night waves, and try to escape by elevator.

Is this the itch.io flashlight horror game also named Last Light?+

No. Several unrelated projects share the title. This embed matches the AZGames lab-survival side-scroller with power grids and mutant waves—not the separate flashlight dungeon or Nokia-palette horror jam games.

How do electricity and the elevator work?+

You generate and store power, then split it among lighting, security, and the elevator. Without enough battery on the elevator systems, escape stays locked even if you survive the fights.

What are the controls?+

WASD to move, right-click to aim, left-click to shoot, R for reload/items, E to interact, middle-click to kick/cancel, and Shift to run. Confirm any overlay tips inside your build.

Do I need to download anything?+

Not from this site. The session loads in the embed. Wait through the first asset load before refreshing.

Can I play on mobile?+

Some hosts offer touch controls, but aiming, power menus, and turret placement are usually smoother on desktop.
