ABOUT THE GAME

Barry Steakfries vs. every era’s undead

Age of Zombies is a twin-stick shooter from Halfbrick—the same studio behind Fruit Ninja—built around Barry Steakfries chasing a mad scientist’s mess through time. Prehistory, old Chicago, Egypt, feudal Japan, the far future: each world swaps the scenery and the zombie flavor, not the core loop.

You are not placing towers. You are in the middle of the room, strafing while you aim, grabbing better guns from crates, and learning when a crowd needs a grenade instead of another clip. The tone stays goofy; the screens still fill up fast.

This page runs the HTML5 browser build. Hit play in the embed, get used to move-and-shoot together, and treat the first stage as a warm-up for how sticky the later packs get.

HOW IT PLAYS

Move one way, shoot another

  1. 1

    True twin-stick combat

One stick (or WASD) moves Barry. The other aims and fires. Standing still to “line up” a shot is how packs eat you—keep your feet moving while you clear a lane.

  2. 2

Crates beat sticking with the starter gun

Primary and secondary pickups sit in crates on the map. Walking into one swaps what you are carrying. Secondary tools (grenades and the like) are for dense clumps, not every lone walker.

  3. 3

    Story stages, then Horde

The campaign stretches across multiple worlds with boss fights along the way. Horde modes are the score-chase side dish when you want endless waves instead of a scripted path.

WHAT YOU'RE WORKING THROUGH

New eras, meaner packs, louder bosses

Expect roughly two dozen story levels spread over eight worlds, a handful of bosses with their own patterns, and a separate set of Horde stages if you care about leaderboards. Weapons and power-ups (from heavier guns to wild one-offs like a T-Rex ride in fuller builds) keep runs from feeling like the same pistol forever.

Browser embeds can trim co-op or some extras from the big mobile remaster—the twin-stick zombie-clearing loop is still the point. Finish a world, then either push the next era or farm Horde until your aim stops panicking.

SURVIVAL TIPS

Space first, then damage

  • Kite before you tunnelIf zombies surround you, circle the edge of the pack and peel them into a line. Point-blank sprays feel brave and usually end the run.
  • Save secondary ammoGrenades shine when the screen is already messy. Using them on two walkers leaves you empty for the boss add wave.
  • Don’t ignore crates mid-fightA better primary mid-stage changes how dense a room feels. Risk a short detour if the path is clear enough.
  • Bosses punish greedLearn the safe lane of the arena first. Dumping every round into the boss while adds spawn behind you is a classic wipe.

FAQ

Is Age of Zombies a tower-defense or strategy game?+

No. Some sites mis-tag it. It is a top-down twin-stick shooter: you control Barry directly, move and shoot at the same time, and clear stages—not place turrets.

Can I play it free without downloading?+

Yes. This page embeds the browser version. Start it in the frame above—no install required.

Does it work on phone and desktop?+

Yes. Phones and tablets use on-screen sticks; desktop usually pairs keyboard movement with mouse aim. If a control feels off, check the in-game prompt for that build.
